The Two Foundations (Luke 6:46-49)

The Two Foundations.

46 “Why do you call me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ but not do what I command?

47 I will show you what someone is like who comes to me, listens to my words, and acts on them.

48 That one is like a person building a house, who dug deeply and laid the foundation on rock; when the flood came, the river burst against that house but could not shake it because it had been well built.

49 But the one who listens and does not act is like a person who built a house on the ground without a foundation. When the river burst against it, it collapsed at once and was completely destroyed.”

It’s in living Christ’s Word that we give our lives a solid foundation.  Iw we are doers of the word, then we will be able to stand strong against the torrents of moral peril in the world.

Sometimes people don’t feel like they have a strong love for Christ; they think that they don’t have a deep relationship with Him.  If, however we want to grow in relationship with Him, then we can become doers of His word.  If we already have a strong relationship with Him, then we already have been doing as He commands.  As we continue to call him Lord and follow His commands then we grow deeper into relationship with him.
